Azealia Banks played to a packed out Whelan’s crowd tonight. Tiny, tiny girl with a great big mouth. Brilliant.
Dems supported and won my heart. Let’s have them back soon, lovely wee boys. Yum.

I caught the end of Friday and the beginnings of Saturday. Here’s everyone in capture order.
Miss Murphy was there and paid a lot more attention than I did… so read her new blog for reviews!
I’m not gonna lie, I was mostly watching the barman pour me another pint. I saw about 4 bands and got bored. It’s not that they weren’t good, they were. I was just dying to hear some dirty guitar, but I guess guitars are out in 2011.
Datadrip followed by the amazeballs Cloud Castle Lake ending with Catscars and a 5am burger in BoBos. Classy.
Tonight saw the launch of Grand Pocket Orchestra’s album in Whelan’s.
Best not asking me my opinion of the gig, I’m in such a foul humour that even Michael Jackson rising from the dead and literally moon walking (on the actual freakin’ moon) wouldn’t impress me much. The Hot Pressers liked it, so i’ll probably remain undecided until I read the gig review beautifully written up in next weeks issue, and then be all in love once again. sigh
A short vid of the epic finale. Stage invasion avec crowd surfing.
I purposely didn’t bring my stills camera coz there was no way I was getting sweaty with all the fuckers down on the ground floor. But I couldn’t resist cracking out the iphone for this wee video.
I’m on a total Richter Collective buzz at the moment and I really think you need to be to! Go forth and download Cast Of Cheers album FOR FREE and try replicate the sweaty moshy madness that was Whelans last night. Ah music, don’t ya just love it. Or just love the bands that do it so well!
I also made a really crap video on my new iphoneioquattro that i’ll lash up for the shits n giggles too.
Support came from the also awesome Enemies.
Today in Whelans saw the launch of the JD Set. It’s a competition where unsigned Irish bands can win a rake loada prizes including a stay in Grouse Lodge! Tim Burgess is this years “JD Icon” so i had myself a wee shoot with him this afternoon. The man is an absolute doll… sweet and sound. I love it when the talent are nice, makes my job worthwhile.
He also turned me onto a great new band called Factory Floor…check em out here.
These lovers had a launch party to celebrate the release of Immovable Feet… they’re newest mini album… (featuring artwork by yours truly dontcha know ! )
Also, check out the Video Interview conducted by myself (scarletttt)…and edited by the wonderful Kerbute Productions.
Tres tipsy was I at this Chapters Album launch … and I’m pretty certain i rightly pissed off that arsey gang of elbow snappers in the front row (you know the ones who haunt Whelans… those photographers/camera owners who are adamant in sticking in the one position in front of the mic without budging once and not having the decency to let you in to snap for a second…tsk!)… so all in all a very good snapping gig
lovin the matching shoes lads!

(added in some pix from their instore gig in HMV too…i met Mary Black! Legend!)
Firstly let me say, I’m a big fan. I fell in love with their album Made From Sand back in 2004… like proper love, never left my player, burned a hole right through, CD loving love. Now, with that in mind think how gutted i was when every time that they played in Ireland in I happened to ALWAYS be in another feckin country. I was not missing this gig through hell, high water, wild horses or the Electric Picnic launch party free bar.
5 years of anticipation had passed and during these years Catherine the singer had completely lost her wee voice putting the band on hold… only to find it again recently and record a new album Human Nature which is out now (have a lil preview on their myspace, tis yummy).
This ain’t a review blog you’re right, its a photo blog, so i will wrap this up… lets just say, I wasn’t disappointed. At all.
Check back here soon-ish… as the loverly Alphastates have agreed to a lil photoshoot in the very near future!

ps, i dont think i have ever seen anything as beautiful as a pregnant rockstar. kudos x
last night saw ex Shiversaint man Ryan Sheridan take the stage upstairs in Whelans… he was supporting Jezz… for his first solo show it was crackin… some nice n memorable tunes…
One of the hardest working bands around Dublin today! Always put on an impressive live show… and quite frankly theyre just lovely lovely blokes! if sheer determination was a factor in making u famous, these lads will have their own line of action figures by the end of 2009. They have an album comin out at the end of this year or so i’m told… go have a wee listen. DC Tempest
short n sweet photee session backstage in Whelans.
…. but ya no, lets talk about the not so glam bit of Rock Photography…. the hours spent waiting for the feckin bands! sometimes they miss their flights (We Are Scientists were too hungover, hence me and a rake of other snappers journos had a lovely 4 hour wait on our clocks, ive yet to let this go)… sometimes the day gets away from them or they just have trouble with soundchecks… either way there is a hella lot of waiting in this game… and wen that happens you just gotta hope that the company you’re in is sound enuf… so my wait for this shower was made all the more worthwhile by Mr Peter Corway of PIAS. and god bless him, didnt he only stand in for some test shots…. bet he wishes he didnt now! love you Pee x
These Stoneybatter massive had their EP launch in whelans… and it was jammed! great show all round!
This was a Club AC30 night in Whelans brought to my attention by the delightful Miss Cauls. APOF really blew me away. Although from a snappers point of view it was pure pants. Lads, I understand that you were creating an atmosphere by hiding in shadows then blinding us with strobe… but there’s other ways around it… tsk, really grinds my gears.

Amazing energy from these guys… i was sent along by HP and honestly didn’t have a clue what to expect. Billy Childish was always an artist/painter in my eyes… now, he’s a musical legend!
…and kind enough to pose for some portraits after too! (such lovely folk)
