Azealia Banks played to a packed out Whelan’s crowd tonight. Tiny, tiny girl with a great big mouth. Brilliant.
Dems supported and won my heart. Let’s have them back soon, lovely wee boys. Yum.

The Blackout and New Found Glory…. and hundreds of extremely smelly teenagers all engrossed in sexual experimentation. Oh how I miss Blast.
in the O2, Dublin. Awful lights, awful awful lights. Eww. Bit of a photo challenge I must admit, but at least it makes a change from the normal white light in the O2!
I caught the end of Friday and the beginnings of Saturday. Here’s everyone in capture order.
Miss Murphy was there and paid a lot more attention than I did… so read her new blog for reviews!
The beautiful Sinead O’Connor rocking the Olympia with that shiver inducing voice of hers.
Kittser, the big romantic. Playing the album right through in Vicar Street. Heartwarming stuff there. 10 years of picnic’s in the pav with The Big Romance… time really does fly.
He wrote The Virgin Suicides don’t ‘cha know!
….some speed portraits totaled 2.8 minutes using available light.
Absolutely fucking incredible night. One of the greatest gigs I have been to in a very long time. Encapsulating atmosphere created by such powerful songs. Their stage presence has come on leaps and bounds since I last saw them in Electric Picnic 2010(?) and it’s getting really easy to love this band more and more with each gig and album.
The photos, I’ll admit, are a bit shit. Seemed like all the lights got turned on after we left the pit.
Also, check our Mikel climbing the mezz for an entire song. Heart.In.Mouth.
Holy good Jesus the Chilies rocked it last night in the O2. They put on the definition of Arena Rock. The lights, the set list, the visuals… couldn’t fault it in the slightest. They even lit the stage. The actual floor of the stage was made of lights. Such a great consideration for the fans in the seats, I mean who wants to look at a sea of rank duct tape (you hearing this Britney?).
There was a great mix of old & new tunes. Plenty of heartfelt banter to make us feel all special n loved and Flea’s bass playing skills could keep you mesmerised for years.
Amazeballs review to follow in HotPress later by Celina Murphy x
I’m off to dig out my copy of Blood Sugar….
He’s Ciaran from Corrie!!! I met a real Corrie star…. this, my friends, has been a very high point of my career. Yea sure I’ve met loads of other high-flying rock stars, politicians, directors etc… but Ciaran’s been behind the bar. He holds the secret to what’s in Betty’s HotPot. This, to me (and my Mum) is everything.
Met him in the Westbury Hotel with Olaf where they discussed happy times & sad. Interview is in latest issue of HotPress and I’m sure Olaf held it together better than I did. You can also catch Mr. Duffy appearing in Big Maggie in The Gaiety this November.
Britney raunched it up in the O2 last night.
UPDATE! All hail President Michael Squee!!
I was dashing from the Olympia and back so unfortunately only got to see Joe Chester & Maria Doyle Kennedy live. Other acts included The Stunning, David Kitt & Si Schroeder.
Some photos I took of the legendary Bert Jansch on July 24th in Dublin. He was supporting Joanna Newsom in Marlay Park.
Who knew he was so ill. Rest in peace x
All day gig featuring House Of Dolls, Overhead the Albatross & White Collar Boy.
Fun times indeed, even if The Workmans is to blame for my partial memory loss in the last 12 months. Happy Birthday Workmans!
Overheard The Albatross
